Access to Quality Healthcare

Access to quality healthcare is fundamental to building healthy, resilient, and empowered communities. However, many individuals, particularly those living in rural and underserved areas, continue to face significant barriers such as inadequate healthcare infrastructure, limited financial resources, lack of awareness, and restricted access to essential medical services. Recognising these challenges, United Way of Baroda has developed a comprehensive Health Programme that strives to make quality healthcare accessible, affordable, and equitable for all. The programme adopts a holistic approach that combines preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare interventions to improve the overall well-being of vulnerable communities. Through strategic partnerships with hospitals, healthcare professionals, government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and corporate partners, the programme delivers a wide range of initiatives including preventive health check-ups, eye screening camps, maternal and child healthcare, nutrition support, blood donation drives, access to clean drinking water, medical equipment support, sanitation and hygiene promotion, and community health awareness campaigns. Alongside strengthening healthcare infrastructure, the programme focuses on educating individuals about disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, nutrition, hygiene, and the importance of early diagnosis, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. By addressing both immediate healthcare needs and the root causes of poor health through sustainable, community-driven interventions, United Way of Baroda is improving health outcomes, reducing inequalities in healthcare access, and enhancing the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families. Guided by the belief that healthcare is a fundamental right rather than a privilege, the organisation continues to create healthier communities by ensuring that every individual, regardless of their socio-economic background, has the opportunity to live a healthy, dignified, and productive life.

Education is the foundation for opportunity, empowerment, and progress. For over 30 years, we have  worked tirelessly to ensure access to quality education for underprivileged children and youth— breaking cycles of poverty and opening doors to brighter futures.

Our education initiatives provide holistic support, addressing key barriers to learning. From distributing  school supplies and uniforms to strengthening infrastructure in rural schools, we aim to create inclusive,  enabling environments where children can thrive.

By engaging with local communities, we develop sustainable, impactful programs that uplift thousands  of students each year. Together, we are nurturing a generation equipped with the knowledge, skills, and  confidence to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.

Ensuring Access to Quality Healthcare for All

Access to basic healthcare services is a fundamental right, yet many face significant barriers, from  lack of awareness to inadequate infrastructure. At United Way of Baroda, our Health Program is  dedicated to overcoming these challenges and ensuring that everyone, particularly those in rural and  marginalized communities, has access to essential healthcare services.

Our program focuses on:

  • Providing critical healthcare services to underserved populations
  • Promoting health awareness and education to empower individuals to make informed  decisions about their well-being
  • Addressing the root causes of poor health through sustainable initiatives

By partnering with local healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies, we ensure that  healthcare becomes a universal right, not a privilege, for all. Our collective efforts are aimed at  improving the quality of life for individuals, fostering healthier communities, and creating a lasting  impact on public health.

Community Impact Programmes in Health

United Way of Baroda’s Community Impact Programmes in Health are designed to strengthen healthcare access for marginalized and underserved communities by supporting hospitals, healthcare institutions, and non-governmental organisations through need-based interventions. The programmes focus on improving healthcare infrastructure and enabling quality medical care by facilitating ICU upgrades, providing advanced medical and diagnostic equipment, supporting life-saving surgeries for economically disadvantaged patients, and extending rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities. By addressing critical healthcare gaps and enhancing the capacity of healthcare providers, these initiatives improve patient outcomes, reduce disparities in access to treatment, and contribute to building stronger, more resilient healthcare systems that serve vulnerable populations with dignity and compassion.

CSR Initiatives in Health

With the support of its CSR partners, United Way of Baroda has implemented a wide range of healthcare initiatives across Gujarat to improve access to quality healthcare, strengthen public health infrastructure, and promote community well-being. The interventions include equipping urban and rural health centres with essential maternal healthcare diagnostic tools, installing community-based and solar-powered Water ATMs to ensure access to safe drinking water, providing advanced medical, ophthalmic, laboratory, and diagnostic equipment to hospitals and health centres, conducting large-scale school eye screening programmes, improving water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities in schools and hospitals, supporting child nutrition through dedicated mid-day meal delivery vehicles, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities by training rural youth in hospital attendant and paramedical skills. Together, these integrated initiatives have enhanced healthcare delivery, promoted preventive healthcare, strengthened local health systems, and improved the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families across the state.
