Livelihood Generation

With the support of its CSR partners, United Way of Baroda implemented a focused set of livelihood and skill development initiatives aimed at enabling dignified, sustainable futures for underserved communities. The efforts centred on vocational training and capacity building,

including a structured plumbing skill development program for inmates at Vadodara Central Jail to support rehabilitation and reintegration, advanced tailoring training for rural women to strengthen employability, income generation, and pathways to micro-entrepreneurship, and intensive livelihood-oriented training for women from marginalized backgrounds to enhance self-reliance. Youth empowerment was further strengthened through defence services preparatory programs in rural areas, combining physical training, discipline, and resilience

building to support aspirants pursuing careers in the armed forces. Complementing skill development, essential infrastructure support such as the construction of hygienic sanitation facilities in schools helped create safer and more enabling environments for education and well being. Together, these initiatives reflect a long-term commitment to strengthening livelihoods, fostering social inclusion, and creating opportunities that extend beyond immediate assistance to lasting community impact.

Sustainable livelihoods are fundamental to building self-reliant communities and reducing socio-economic inequalities. United Way of Baroda works towards empowering individuals by creating opportunities for skill development, vocational education, entrepreneurship, and employment. Through strategic CSR partnerships, we equip youth, women, vulnerable populations, and marginalized communities with practical skills that enhance employability and promote financial independence.

Our livelihood programmes are designed to address local employment needs while enabling participants to develop industry-relevant skills. From vocational certification programmes and advanced tailoring courses to plumbing, healthcare, and defence services preparation, every initiative focuses on building confidence, improving earning potential, and opening pathways to sustainable careers.

Special emphasis is placed on supporting women and vulnerable groups through entrepreneurship and income-generation initiatives that encourage economic independence and long-term self-reliance. The Plumbing Skill Development Programme at Vadodara Central Jail further demonstrates our commitment to rehabilitation by equipping inmates with employable skills that support successful reintegration into society.

Through these initiatives, United Way of Baroda is not only strengthening livelihoods but also fostering dignity, resilience, and inclusive economic growth across communities.
