A Ray of Hope for the bereaved children

While death cases were increasing at a fast pace due to second phase of this virus, where hospitals were running out beds, oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment to treat the affected patients during COVID-19 pandemic. These deaths cases were representing the individuals who are strong stem of the family.

United Way of Baroda was relentlessly working to meet to the needs of various Trusts and Government Hospitals of Vadodara and other districts through providing plethora of advanced medical equipment, consumables, tools and the list goes on. When seen the depth of the death cases, UWB decided to extend its help in other sectors as well. Through the detailed analysis found on death cases occurring more among the middle class revealed that such families are facing financial troubles, as they were not finding out any other sources of income for survival. In addition, Children of such families are vulnerable and could not continue their education as they could not afford the charges of the school education after losing strong earning member of their family.

United Way of Baroda decided to support such families in terms of providing educational aids to such vulnerable children in order to continue their school education.

United Way of Baroda Launched “Mission Shiksha” project on 4th May 2021 to support the School Education of all those children who have lost one or both of their parents in 6 Districts of Gujarat (Vadodara, Anand, Panchmahal, Bharuch, Narmada, and Chhota Udepur) during this COVID-19 pandemic situation in India (after March 2020).

The program has been supporting all those families who lost their breadwinners and aims to ensure the continuity of school education of these children without worrying about the increased financial burden for at least 2 years by paying their School/Tuition Fees, Education Kits, and Ration kit to families who needed. In addition, families are being facilitated with coverage of six-months utility bills i.e. gas bills, electricity bills, and rent.
