For over three decades, United Way of Baroda’s Garba Mahotsav has transcended beyond a mere celebration of Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage. It stands as a globally acclaimed community engagement event, uniting over 40,000 players in dance, music, and philanthropy. This vibrant tradition has become a beacon of hope, raising vital funds to empower underprivileged communities across sectors like education, health, livelihood, and social inclusion.
Garba, a dance form deeply rooted in Gujarati traditions, embodies health, spirituality, and reverence. Performed over nine days in honor of the nine forms of Goddess Amba Mataji, it celebrates fertility, womanhood, and devotion. The rhythmic movements, set to soulful music, create an atmosphere of joy and worship, symbolizing unity and cultural pride.

United Way of Baroda’s Garba Mahotsav is a Globally Acclaimed Community Engagement Event since last 33 years where more than 40,000+ players from 14 years old child to 80 years senior citizens are involved to perform Garba around a Statue of Goddess Durga. This Event is a platform to create philanthropic avenues for people to contribute towards advancing a common good i.e. to work for the betterment of the society.
Garba represents Gujarati traditions in terms of health wherein physical body movement takes place for nine continuous days using music in order to worship. The dance form of garba celebrates fertility, honour womanhood and pays respect to all nine form of Mother Goddesses.
Millions of people participates in our prestigious Garba event to be a part of safeguarding Gujarat Tradition, customs and strong faith in Goddess Amba Mataji in nine forms representing nine auspicious days for the devotees (Strength, Self-control, Dignity, Cosmos, Motherhood, Bravery, Power, Hope, Nature’s bliss and Happiness). Participants, the Donors of our Event circles around the Mataji in one form showing the unity in diversity and in turn, each circle of the donor raises funds for the underprivileged communities. The Donors mandatory have to wear a traditional dress and dance barefooted in the respect of Mataji, which is the USP of United Way of Baroda and this preserves the tradition and rich heritage of Gujarat. Many donors at our event keep fasts all the nine days and do aarti praying for the well-being for their family and society.
